Have you ever felt uneasy about something you were about to do? Or, heard something you found hard to believe which made you feel unsettled. The uneasy or unsettling response is your gut reaction, which is the physical manifestation of your intuition. It is your body’s way of telling you to question what you are being told, question what you are being asked to do, or telling you to do exactly what you feel is right in that moment. Your gut reaction is hard to trust in your youth simply because you have less life experience to draw from, so be careful. As you get older you learn to trust your gut reaction, based on all the times it stopped you from doing something you later found out would have ended poorly for you.
Now more than ever, you must trust your gut! If something feels off, feels wrong, or sounds false then it probably is. If your gut starts to react then I would suggest the following:
1) Do not act or react out of emotion. – This is never recommended. Be wary of any situations where you are being pressured to act immediately. Once you become emotional your judgement is compromised.
2) Evaluate the information and not the source. – The amount of trust you have in the source will affect how credible you find the information presented to be. This is where the truth comes in, find it! If you have questions, verify the information for yourself, do your own research.
3) Act. – Based on your research act on the truth (that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality).
Trust your gut! Avoid group think! Go Pursue Hard Things!!
